3D scanning

3D scanning

Our practice offers the latest in 3D and scanning technology in both of our state-of-the-art office locations. 3D scanning ensures high quality and accurate results and can better assess your specific needs and establish the right care plan for you. By having access to technology that can allow your teeth and jaws to be viewed at all angles, our oral surgeons can diagnose problems with ease and ensure more accurate results for our patients. Typically, patients will undergo a 3D scan during their first visit. If your dentist or physician has taken X-rays, you may request that they be forwarded to our office. If forwarding is not an option, please pick them up beforehand and bring them to our office. Additional films can be taken at our facilities if necessary.

Benefits of 3D scanning

Due to the amazing advances that 3D scanning and imaging has undergone, this technique offers a wide range of patient benefits:

  • Experience less exposure to radiation compared to traditional CT scans.
  • 3D imaging provides highly accurate images because of its high resolution.
  • 3D scans find problems that 2D scans cannot, particularly when it comes to differentiating the different types of tissue in the image.
  • 3D scans minimize risk during surgery because doctors know precisely where nerves are located.
  • A single rotation of the scanner takes about 10 seconds.
  • 3D scans can assess bone quality.

3D scanning has also been associated with faster recovery times and reduced post-operative discomfort in patients due to helping the oral surgeon perform highly accurate procedures.
